AP Glossary
WhatIsSession?
A single play period on one machine. AP sessions are typically short — play only while the machine is in your favor, then leave. Long sessions grinding through house-favored territory is gambling, not advantage play.
Why It Matters
Why this matters for advantage play
Session length is one of the cleanest separators between AP and gambling. Disciplined APs sit down when it's a play, run it through the trigger, and leave. Anyone running long sessions on the same machine is donating expected value back to the house.

Related terms
Session Bankroll
The amount allocated for a single playing session, separate from total bankroll. Session bankroll limits protect the overall bankroll from a single bad variance run.
Walk / Walk Away
The discipline of leaving a machine or a casino when conditions are not favorable. Walking away from -EV situations — even when you're 'due' for a win — is the single most important habit in advantage play.
Advantage Play (AP)
The practice of using math, observation, and legal strategies to identify and play slot machines with a positive expected value. AP players only play when the numbers are in their favor.
Grind
The process of playing through player-favorable situations repeatedly over many sessions. AP is often a grind — small edges played consistently add up to meaningful profit, but individual sessions can be losing ones.
Frequently Asked
Common questions about session
Often 5–30 minutes. The session ends when the trigger fires or when the counter has been ground past the profitable range — whichever comes first.
If the play is still in your favor and the bankroll holds, no. The cost of a break is forfeiting your seat to another player. If the seat is at risk, push through.
Recompute EV. As you put coin-in through, the counter changes — sometimes upward (the edge holds), sometimes flat (the edge erodes). At some coin-in level, even good plays turn against you.
